Temporary Body
“Temporary Body” takes an abstract approach to the body as a temporary form, and how dance is able to emphasize this. Inspired by Lee, and the story of Swan Lake, Harper Haase was able to work closely with dancer and choreographer, Alexiana James, to create this piece. As the choreography is able to speak for itself, the main part is really about the audio. There's a poem being read that, in an abstract way, is able to examine how the body ages and moves differently when you age, and yet it still is able to hold tight to memories. The music too, is derived from Swan Lake, as the swans only take human form at night, adding to the idea of the body being something that is temporary. This work is ultimately meant to showcase how choreography can transform the body as a form, but that the body transforms itself regardless.
